Her Story

A Trú Place was born from lived experience.

Kylee experienced periods of homelessness, including habitual homelessness, caused by life transitions, relationship challenges, financial instability, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, she remained determined—maintaining employment, pursuing education, and continuously seeking growth.

Through these experiences, she recognized a critical truth:

Without consistent support, guidance, and access to resources, even the most determined individuals can struggle to break cycles of instability.

Barriers such as lack of childcare, limited financial aid, and absence of mentorship created ongoing challenges that highlighted the need for something deeper than temporary assistance.

During a pivotal moment while traveling cross-country with her children, after sharing a meal and realizing there was no place to rest, she spoke the words that would become the foundation of her work:

“I wish I had a true place to call home.”

That moment became the vision for A Trú Place.

But her purpose began long before that.

At just five years old, while volunteering alongside her mother at the Clara White Mission in Jacksonville, Florida, she declared that one day she would build housing for families experiencing homelessness.

Today, she is actively walking in that purpose.

Leadership & Experience

Kylee is a certified community counselor and is currently pursuing advanced education in clinical therapy, with the goal of becoming a licensed clinical therapist and continuing toward clinical psychology or psychiatry. She is also an entrepreneur, having successfully built and operated a property management and cleaning company specializing in vacation rentals for over five years, beginning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kylee currently serves as a board member for Ascencia, a homeless services organization in Glendale, California—where she was once a client. Her leadership reflects a full-circle journey from receiving support to helping guide and govern services for others. Her background includes experience in healthcare, as well as studies in marketing, equipping her with a unique ability to combine compassion, strategy, and community impact. She is also actively involved in community engagement through her church, contributing to outreach efforts that support families and strengthen local communities.

Her Philosophy

Kylee believes that true support goes beyond temporary assistance.

She is committed to creating pathways that empower women to become self-sufficient, stable, and confident in their ability to build and sustain their own success.

Her personal philosophy,
“self-worth is self first,”
serves as the foundation of her work—encouraging individuals to prioritize their healing, growth, and long-term well-being.
